WWT supporters can raise funds to protect and restore wetlands by joining a new, nationwide sponsored walk called the Big Green Hike.
For the first time, many of Britain’s best-loved nature and environmental charities are coming together for the walk on Sunday 15th May to raise money for nature. WWT supporters can get involved by registering to take part and choosing to raise money to help protect and restore wetland habitats.
The Big Green Hike is a sponsored event that anyone can take part in, no matter where they live. Whether 100 metres or 30 miles, hikers choose the distance, the route and environmental cause they want to support. Once registered, participants will be invited to set up a JustGiving page and collect donations for their chosen charity.
WWT’s head of Policy and Advocacy, Tom Fewins, said: “Spending time in natural places and particularly near water has been shown to improve our health and wellbeing.
“The Big Green Hike is a great opportunity for people to get out into their local area, connect with nature and raise money to help the environment. We’d love the public to consider WWT as their chosen charity and help support our work to create bigger, better and more connected network of wetlands.”
