Have a hopping, jumping, buzzing summer adventure at Martin Mere Wetland Centre with our Giant Bionic Bugs! There are loads of bug-themed activities for the whole family to enjoy. Head to our Bug HQ to pick up a free activity book and set off into the wild on a bug-tastic adventure.
During your visit, you can meet our GIANT Bionic Bugs brought to life with state of the art animatronics and sound effects. There’s a 6ft long dragonfly, a 4ft buzzing bee and a 6ft long grasshopper for you to find – which one will your favourite be?
You can also go on a watery adventure at the Canoe Safari. Hire a canoe or go on a relaxing boat tour and see how many bugs you can spot on the trail. And don’t miss our Guinness World Recording-holding World's Largest Bug Hotel which is packed full of weird and wonderful critters!
Don’t forget to grab a net and become a pond detective with pond dipping in our brand new Pond Zone. You’ll also be able to see bugs in microscopic detail using specialist equipment in our new pond house.
And as if all of that wasn’t enough, you can find out all about our amazing poisonous Spur Winged Goose and their bug diet of blister beetles during your visit, plus you can get creative with some buggy crafts in the craft room.
Make the most of your visit by taking part in the wide range of additional activities available at our centre. For the young adventurers, there’s plenty of areas to explore. Venture through three types of ‘wild’ wetland in one mile-long VIP walk – wellies are a must in the Wild Walk area!
For thrill seekers, make sure you check out Rushes play area. From zip wire screams and scramble net laughs, to treehouse trailblazing and water zone wonders, the huge adventure playground with wet play is a total rush for ages 3 to 12 and a perfect way to cool down on those hot summer days.
