It's a Wader Day

There are two Green Sandpipers and a Ruff on Folly Pond this morning. They are joined on the pool by Snipe, Lapwing, a Black-tailed Godwit and a juvenile Shelduck. If you look closely in the photo of the Folly Pond taken this morning from the Scottish Water Hide you may spot a photo-bombing House Martin. The good weather has also brought out the Dragonflies and Butterflies. There is a mass of Common Darter Dragonflies down the Saltcot. Red Admiral, Painted Lady, Meadow Brown, Peacock and Small White Butterflies have been observed darting around the reserve. Last week we had visits from a Comma Butterfly in the Wildlife Garden so we will be keeping our eyes peeled again for that today.
