Firstly, a belated report from yesterday, when 2 Wheatears were reported from the United Utilities hide. Todays highlight was a Short-eared Owl, which was seen from the Ron Barker hide along with at least 3 Marsh Harriers and over 50 Avocets. 40+ Black-tailed Godwits were on the Mere, with similar numbers of Ruff, 60+ Oystercatchers, and a few Redshanks . 40 Whooper Swans were still present today, although they were very active, flying around the reserve frequently, and perhaps 'warming up' for their return flight to Iceland.
