Manicure for cows??
Today, our cows have had their hooves trimmed. This is part of an annual health check. All of our cows graze on wet ground which means their hooves don't get worn down and we need to maintain them for their own health.
So how do you trim a cows hoof? The answer to that is with a lot of difficulty! We use a local person called Norman Walker who brings in a large machine that allows us to lift the cows. It is important that the cows remain still, especially their legs and head and this machine keeps the cow firmly in place without causing them any harm. We took lots of photos but I have put in a couple below to show you what happens.
