TV presenters Kate Humble and Miranda Krestovnikoff are backing the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust’s (WWT) call to protect the laws that protect the UK’s wildlife.

All our wildlife – including the ducks, water voles, dragonflies and flowers you can see at WWT wetland centres – benefits from laws that are underpinned by the European Birds and Habitats Directives.

But Brussels is reviewing those Directives. So Kate and Miranda are asking you to join them in telling Brussels that you don’t want our nature laws weakened, by signing up at the bottom of this page, it only takes a few seconds.

We’re joining up with other organisations across Europe, supported by other wildlife celebrities like Chris Packham and film maker Gordon Buchanan, to send a really big message to the decision-makers. A record 270,000 people have already signed up their support.

Kate Humble said:

“Thousands of people have registered the fact that they don't want our wildlife laws weakened. This states loudly and unequivocally to Brussels that we all consider wildlife to be vitally important, and giving it the best possible protection should continue to be the duty of all of us."

Miranda Krestovnikoff recorded this video and said:

“This isn’t political, this isn’t about the UK’s place in Europe. This is bigger. It’s about making sure that we are not the generation that allowed beautiful places and beautiful wildlife to disappear. Let’s show the lawmakers that nature matters to all of us. We need to keep the laws that protect nature.”

The Directives consultation ends on 24 July, so you must have registered your support before that date.
