Marsh Harriers

Feeling very autumnal over the last few days with increasing numbers of Pink-footed Geese upto 250 around today. Also a good count of 5 Marsh Harrier as well as 2-3 Sparrowhawk, 4 Kestrel and several Common Buzzard.

A family party of Pink-footed Geese from Ron Barker Hide (T. Disley)

Still excellent numbers of Snipe to be seen at the moment with at least 130+ counted. Up to 30+ Ruff and a Green Sandpiper were reported. A Barn Owl was out early late afternoon hunting very close to Kingfisher and Ron Barker Hides.

An Otter was seen in the morning in the brook right in front of Ron Barker hide.

On Monday 2 Avocet were on Vinson's from Ron Barker and 2 Swifts were seen, as well as 2 newly arrived Pintail on the Mere along with a few Wigeon and 200 Teal. While on Sunday a Merlin was seen.

With increasing winds overnight and into tomorrow and numbers of Leach's Petrel along the coast there may be a seabird surprise hopefully?
