New Scaup

An adult male Scaup on the Mere this morning was a new bird, and still present this afternoon, also still at least 1 Goldeneye present.

At least 2 possibly 3 Water Rail on view from UU Hide in the ditch below, also a female Merlin seen from here.

Still 3-4 Marsh Harrier and a male Peregrine today.

A group of 30 Black-tailed Godwit on Woodend Marsh.

The fabulous Starling roost can be seen in the Reedbed walk area by Harrier Hide, last entry to the reserve is at 3.30pm to witness this winter spectacle. The Starlings start to come in around 4pm. Once they have roosted the wardens will escort people back to the car park which will stay open until 5.30pm.

DO NOT park on Marsh Moss Lane. One vehicle has already been involved in accident as a result.
