Dusty's Puddle Jumping Championships - splashtastic half-term fun!

Wellies at the ready this February half-term as WWT Washington hosts the third annual Dusty’s Puddle Jumping Championships; a splashtastic way to get rid of those winter cobwebs!

Bring your friends and family and see who can record the quickest time round our new Welly Bootcamp obstacle course. Or prepare to get wet as you make the biggest, craziest splash against our special splash-o-meter. You may even get to meet the main man himself – Dusty Duck!

Entrants can perfect their splashing techniques in our practice puddle zones, as well as having a go at welly wanging, taking a turn at the welly shy or getting involved in fun crafts to keep the whole family entertained.

WWT Washington’s centre manager Gill Pipes said: “We know that children love nothing more than to climb, jump and splash about in puddles, so this is a great opportunity for them to get closer to nature doing something that they enjoy.

“We also know that children who like playing outdoors often grow up to be adults that love the outdoors and through this event we’re gently building an interest that may help protect wetlands and the wildlife that depend on them for years to come.”

Dusty’s Puddle Jumping Championships run throughout the day from Saturday 10-Sunday 18 February (no timed sessions, no booking required, just drop in and join the fun!). They are open to all competitors no matter what their age or ability and each contestant will receive a ‘splashtastic’ sticker to acknowledge their puddle-jumping and obstacle course-tackling efforts.

Plus, complete at least one championship activity and enter your details into our free draw to win one of three fantastic prizes*! (*Winners to be chosen at random on Monday 19 February).

Dusty Duck was kindly designed exclusively for the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) by the world-famous Aardman studios, the studios behind Early Man, Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep.
