Recent Sightings (21st-23rd March)

Two Spoonbills have been in the area, along with 252 Redshank,410 Black-tailed Godwit, 191 Knot, 5 Greenshank, 2 Lapwing, 7 Dunlin and 1 Little Egret and Curlew. There have also been counts of 78 Wigeon, 48 Shelduck, 2 Teal, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 12 Cormorant, 6 Gadwall and 5 Shoveler. A small flock of 7 Goldfinches and a Buzzard were noted, along with Gull counts consisting of 1 Common Gull, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 50 Herring Gull, 41 Black-headed Gull and Geese counts being 15 Greylag and 3 Canada Geese. Two Snipe were also seen out on the marsh.

 

Millennium Wetlands

In the reserve there was a sighting of a Woodcock, 3 Treecreeper, 1 Green Woodpecker, 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Fieldfare, 1 Raven and a Buzzard. On Deep Water Lake we have had recent counts of around 34 Tufted Duck, 8 Pochard, 15 Redshank, 1 Snipe, 6 Shoveler, 1 Grey Heron, 1 Little Egret, as well as 94 Black Headed Gull and 26 Herring Gull. The Ring Neck Duck made an appearance on 22nd and there is also 1 Mediterranean Gull out on the reserve. Reed Buntings and Cetti's Warblers can be heard throughout our Reedbeds. In this area of the reserve there have also been estimates of around 10 Snipe.
