Snow Melting Birds Returning

A busy couple of days clearing snow and feeding birds but all looking good for an re-opening tomorrow.

Lots of waders and duck have moved onto the estuary but are starting to come back into the now flooding fields.

Rushy

Looks great, over 250 Pintail and 120 Teal are feeding up close with the 80 Bewick's

Holden Tower and Hides

Low numbers but some real gems, 50 Shoveler in a tight flock in front of the Knot Hide and odd Water Rails seem to be everywhere. Bird feeding stations are buzzing with the usual small birds and a scattering of Teal and Shovelers for a change. The Barnacle Goose flock is on the Dumbles with the Red Breasted Goose.

South Lake

A good variety of ducks here taking advantage of the open water. Counts of 230 Tufted Duck and 64 Pochard were notable. Ducks are coping with the cold spell but 3 Black Tailed Godwit just looked miserable.

Road Fields

Dont forget to check out the road fields on you way in tomorrow, all 125 of the Whitefronted Goose flock and a couple of hundred Greylags were there and very tolerant allowing close viewing..
