Bird News

Few reports received from around the reserve today, although there are lots of birds about.

A few Swallows and singing Blackcap around the In Focus shop, 2 Wheatears on Woodend Marsh and 3 Great Crested Grebes in front of the Harrier hide.

On the Mere, a Common Sandpiper with leg rings and a red flag on one leg attracted some attention. Hopefully we will be able to find out where something about this bird's past . . . .watch this space!

Waders today included 3 Curlews, 60 Avocet, 6 Redshank, a few Snipe, and up 20 Ruff along with a similar number of Black-tailed Godwits.

A few Common Buzzards, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and Barn Owl all seen today
