Bird News

Lots of birds around today - a great primer for the North West Birdwatching festival which takes place at Martin Mere this weekend ( https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/martin-mere/experience/north-west-bird-watching-festival/ ).

2 Avocets on the Mere today were exceptionally late records, and were still present at dusk. An adult Mediterranean Gull was also on the Mere today, along with a full range of wildfowl including Tufted Duck, Pochard, Goldeneye, Pintail, Wigeon, and Teal.

A Peregrine showed regularly throughout the day, but only one Marsh Harrier was reported, and at least 2 Little Egrets are on site.

In the collection area, 2 Bramblings, a Kingfisher, Great Spotted Woodpecker and a Tawny Owl were present.
