Monday sightings

Holden Tower

The Great Skua was seen on the estuary again today. At least 10 Cranes and two Peregrine were also present on the Dumbles. 10 Redwing and 25 Fieldfare flew from the hedges this morning with Reed Bunting also in the same area. The Barnacle Geese (see pic) flew in to join the Canada Goose flock.

South Lake

68 Shelduck roosted, 28 Shoveler, 110 Teal, 300 Lapwing and 40 Black-tailed Godwit also seen.

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

78 Pintail, 1000 Wigeon, 200 Teal, 89 Shoveler, 19 Snipe, 35 Black-tailed Godwit and 230 Dunlin. A Buzzard was on a gull carcass on the southern island.

The Golden Plover flock spent much of the day in the fields just N of the Tack Piece.

Rushy Hide

49 Bewick's Swans roosted.
