As the mercury dips and winter approaches, full preparations are underway for the return of the Bewick’s swan. We have tracked four special Bewick’s swans, Leho, Maisie, Daisy Clarke and Hope so we can trace their incredible journey.
By monitoring their migration, we can better predict when the first of the Bewick’s will touchdown.
Bewick’s swans usually arrive in the UK from mid-October, wintering here until the following March before flying back to the breeding grounds on the Russian tundra.
WWT wetland parks at Slimbridge and Welney offer some of the best opportunities to see these majestic birds up close, from the comfort of our hides.
