This October half term, discover activities that show just how super wetland nature can be. From wildlife spotting and bug hunting to potion crafting and spell casting, the wetlands are bubbling over with magic.

Join us in the Outlook in building each day to try this trio of wetland tricks:
Make a Wand - create your own wetland wand and enchant it using colour, symbols and the power of creativity.
Potion Making - what would you put into a tickle potion? A healing draught? A growth elixir? Discover the mysteries of wetland plants and mix magical (make-believe) potions for the cauldron.
Spell Writing - use real feather quills to write a secret spell, ink an incantation or make a shopping list for potions class - it's up to you - Adsurgere imaginatio!
Fungi Hunt
Daily 10am - 4.30pm
Cost: included in your admission price
Search for spotted tops, giant domes, shaggy ink caps and more on a fungi hunt.
Pick up a free fungi guide in the Visitor Centre and see what natural fungi you can spot.
Pond Dipping
Daily 10.30am - 3.30pm
£3 donation per family/group of 6 is greatly appreciated
Hunt for mini-beasts at the Raised Pond each day of October half term. Book at the admission desk when you arrive.
Owl Pellet Dissection Workshops
Weekends Oct 26-27 & Nov 1-2 at 1-2pm
£5 per family (per 1 pellet)
Dissect owl pellets to discover the tiny bones of wetland mammals who have become lunch for the barn owls with help from our friendly learning team. Book at the admission desk when you arrive. Owl Pellet Dissection Workshops
Halloween Fancy Dress Competition
31 October in the Visitor Centre GalleryIncluded in admission (WWT members free)
Visit us on 31 October in your most spooktacular costume and enter Best Halloween Outfit in one of three age categories. The winning witch or warlock can select their own 'familiar' animal (a WWT stuffed animal toy) as a prize!
Plus these regular activities happening each day of half term:
- Pelican Keeper Talk, 2pm
- Diving Duck Feed in Coastal Creek aviary, noon
- Discovery Boat Safaris, £3 per person, book at the admission desk
