Black Swan on Whooper Pond

Unusual sighting for this morning with a Black Swan joining the Whoopers and Mutes on Whooper Pond. It was not entirely sure of the early breakfast feed carried out by the Wardens, flying off to Folly Pond, but it has returned once again to the Whooper Pond. In other Swan news, please see below for an updated list of returned named Whooper Swans for this year. With plenty of food in the surrounding area it has been harder to get leg rings but Whooper numbers are now starting to build up on the Whooper Pond. There has also been the first winter 2020 sighting of a Greater Scaup on the Whooper Pond so look out for this one mixed in with the Tufties if you are visiting the Reserve.

Please be aware that due to ongoing Coronavirus restrictions we have a limit to the numbers of visitors we can accommodate on the Reserve. To avoid disappointment we advise visitors, including Members, to book online before arrival. Booking can be done via the Caerlaverock website https://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/caerlaveroc...
