Pink feet begin arriving

The sound of Winter is beginning to return to Caerlaverock with skeins of Pink-footed Geese passing overhead yesterday and this morning. A group of 50 birds looked like it was heading down onto the Merse so do have a scan from Saltcot Merse Observatory and listen out for them overhead the Centre. Another bird that has been doing a lot of fly-pasts in the past couple of days is the Snipe. These birds have a rather erratic flight and a scratchy call as the fly. It is a good one to have a listen to online before you visit to know what to listen for. The blustery weather is drawing birds into the relative calm of the Folly Pond and it could blow in some new arrivals.

The Pasture Pathway remains closed. The Meadow and River Walks are now closed for the Season.
