Splendid Saltcot

Unfortunately it would appear that the Common Cranes that dropped in for a visit yesterday have now decided to continue on with their journey. Saltcot Merse Observatory is still providing some excellent viewing opportunities though with a distant Peregrine perched on a piece of driftwood, a brief glimpse of the Marsh Harrier and a flypast by a Merlin yesterday afternoon. Barnacle Geese, Pink-footed Geese, Canada Geese and Greylag Geese are all still feeding out on the merses with Barnacle Geese numbers now over 200 birds. Small bird activity has been good too, with lots of Linnets and sightings of Whinchat, Stonechat and Wheatear perched on fence posts over the past couple of days.

The Pasture Pathway, Meadow and River Walks are now all closed for the season.
