Homecoming - Julian Friers, a Retrospective

See this special exhibition in our Graffan Gallery.

Julian Friers was born in Bangor in 1956. He had his first exhibition there in 1977, but when Castle Espie opened to the public a few years later, it was here that he began an association with the gallery that has continued to the present day.

Paddy Mackie has supported and encouraged his work for almost five decades. During that time Julian has been involved in initiatives with many different conservation bodies in the UK and Europe, he has regularly exhibited in international group shows alongside the world’s leading wildlife artists and he has had one person shows in Belfast, Dublin, London, Dubai and Washington. His work is represented in public and private collections worldwide.

In 2009 Julian was elected President of the Royal Ulster Academy of Arts. He lives with his wife Jill in north Antrim.
