WWT Martin Mere

Lego Brick Animal Trail & Workshops

Wed 9 May - Sun 24 June

This spring the world’s most popular toy will bring families closer to nature at Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

The brick animal trail is included within your admission ticket. You do not need to book in advance, just simply turn up between 9 May and 24 June.    Workshops are an additional cost on top of the entry fee and you do need to book these in advance.

The amazing GIANT LEGO®brick animal trail, the only one of its kind in the UK, is returning to WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre this spring with three NEW friends including Sam the Short-eared Owl.   This new model was unveiled today at Martin Mere. It took an amazing 80 hours to build with an incredible 37,884 LEGO bricks.

Fourteen GIANT 4ft (1.5m) LEGO brick sculptures will be returning to the centre in Lancashire for 6 weeks from Wednesday 9 May to Sunday 24 June, all inspired by real species at WWT Martin Mere. Included are a large North American River Otter, a Hawaiian Goose (Nene), the world’s rarest goose, a giant Kingfisher, frog and a flamingo, plus new models that include a white stork, an owl and a water vole.  In total 253,728 LEGO bricks were used to make all 14 wetland characters.

Once you have done the trail - collect your badge from the information desk.

Advised for ages 4+

Throughout May and June we will be running two workshops at the weekends and during May Half Term.

Our one hour workshops (11.30am & 1.30pm) are perfect for LEGO® fans! Get creative with our LEGO games and you will even leave with your very own model to take home of an owl.

During the hour you will take part in three exciting challenges. At the start you will be divided into two teams and will be racing to build LEGO brick ducklings against the clock.

Next, you’ll build a LEGO brick car. You’ll then test these out on the ramp and see how far they go!

Finally, you’ll be building your very own model to take home with you at the end.

With just 16 participants in each class there’s lots of one-to-one support from the course leader. Workshop places are limited and issues on a first served basis - online booking is therefore highly recommended. Suitable for 4 years and up. £10.50 per person. Adults can sit and watch the workshops for free and seating will be available.  Children should not be left in the workshop room on their own.
