Kerry's workshops cater for all artistic abilities even if you feel you have none. Beginner or more advanced, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at just how much can be achieved in one day.

Required Materials for the day:

  • Pencil, sharpener and eraser
  • Board and masking tape
  • Watercolour or mixed media paper
  • Mixing palette
  • Two water containers
  • Watercolour tubes or pans
  • Watercolour brushes

Plan for the day

  • On arrival all attendees will be given a welcome sheet introducing them to Kerry and the medium to be used on the day, briefly covering the techniques we’ll be using and some of the terminology too.
  • Introduction to the day’s subject and materials, paper paints and brushes, including explanations on how the medium works and advice on how to make the most of the day.
  • Best methods of preparing the painting surface and how to use a palette without wasting paint.
  • Utilising different methods for transferring a sketch to the watercolour surface.
  • Beginning the painting
  • During the painting session there will be plenty of time for questions as we cover different approaches to watercolour painting. Methods to be used on the day will include wet on wet and wet on dry techniques, the importance of ‘lost and found’ edges and negative painting techniques.
  • I usually end a painting session with advice on how individuals could take their craft a step further, asking if any are interested in attending future workshops and if so what mediums and subjects they’d like to see covered etc.

“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed Saturday’s workshop. I loved everything about it – the people were friendly …….. and the tuition and work were brilliant. The time just flew by as it does when you’re enjoying yourself, there was no pressure to complete or get things right the first time and I felt so relaxed! So thank you again and will hopefully be booking the next one soon!”

“I just want to thank you for a fantastic day yesterday. I haven’t been to an art class since I left school (in 1973) and I was wondering if I would be completely out of my depth! I probably was, but it wasn’t too obvious and I found the day really helpful and it has given me renewed inspiration – so much so that I have just booked onto your February workshop! In the meantime, I will keep practising – so who knows?”

“Thank you so much for such a wonderful workshop. You are so inspiring as a teacher and a person, I learned so much and as so eager to start on another… What I really loved too was how wonderfully friendly and relaxed it was …. Thank you, I will be saving for another for sure.”
