Jonathan Pomroy - 20 September 2017 - 9 January 2018
Jonathan Pomroy lives near the North York Moors and works extensively in the field. Many of his paintings are completed on the spot in all, winds and weathers. Favourite sketching locations include the far North West of Scotland, Snowdonia and Anglesey, Norfolk, The Somerset Levels and of course the variety of habitat in his home county of North Yorkshire.
He particularly enjoys the spontaneity of watercolour for fieldwork and the considerable but enjoyable challenges in freezing conditions, high winds or hot weather! He believes that fieldwork is essential to capture the effect of the weather on birds or landscapes. He is an area advisor for Swift Conservation and has spent many years sketching Swifts in flight and using cameras to observe them in the nest space
He has held many one man exhibitions and his work is collected widely. This will be Jonathan’s third show at the gallery here at Slimbridge. For more information see our Events Page and Jonathan's website.
