Centre closure

We’re making some changes to how we operate, so we can make sure our wetland sites thrive in the future. To help us make time to prepare for these changes, the site will be closed temporarily, from Wednesday 12 November until Tuesday 18 November. You can find out what this means for you here.

Wetland Word of the Week 4

Wetland Word of the Week 4
For week 4, our wetland word of the week is...

... firth. A firth is a narrow inlet of the sea or an estuary. It comes from the old Norse for fjord. In Scotland, famous firths include the Firth of Forth, the Moray Firth and of course, our own Solway Firth. These areas are host to huge amounts of biodiversity and are crucial habitats for many species. Check out the photos for some of our favourite and most iconic wildlife that we find on our Solway Firth.
