Wildlife sightings for 12th February 2012

Snipe - Mike Caiden3 Bittern - north side of reservoir lagoon

2 Shelduck - main lake

1 Goosander - red-head (female or juvenile), skidded on the ice on the main lake, flew N at 3:00 p.m.

8 Pintail - reservoir lagoon

538 Teal - reservoir lagoon, sheltered lagoon

356 Tufted Duck - reservoir lagoon

47 Wigeon - grazing on the Thames bank

2 Golden Plover - circled the reserve, then flew off W, 2:15 p.m.

104 Lapwing - main lake

1 Peregrine - sat on main lake shingle island

1 Stonechat - male, grazing marsh

c. 30 Siskin - wildside

8 Lesser Redpoll - entrance area

1 Snipe - Spent much of the day feeding on the grass in front of the Observatory. Reserve warden Mike Caiden took this photo (above) from the downstairs mens' toilets in the Tower building!

3 Bittern - at dusk, 1 roosting up a tree, N side reservoir lagoon, 2 roosting in separate alders in reedbed

3 Shelduck - reservoir lagoon, main lake

9 Pintail - 7 males 2 females, reservoir lagoon

3 Mandarin - collection

1 Red Kite - flew over site at 1:15 p.m.

6 Cetti's Warbler - reedbeds

1 Lesser Redpoll - world wetlands
