Discover the people and skills behind our wetlands through a day of hands-on workshops and activities.
What could your future career look like? Get a taste of some of the different roles at WWT, from caring for wildlife and surveying birds to creating enrichment for our otters. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy, with opportunities to get stuck in, learn new skills and discover the many ways you can work with nature.
Line up:
- Be a Citizen Scientist: Help collect wildlife data and discover how everyday observations can contribute to real scientific research.
- Wildlife Artist: Take a closer look at wildlife specimens and practise the art of scientific drawing, with activities for different ages and abilities.
- Build a Home for Wildlife: Choose a species to protect and design the perfect nature reserve for it using natural materials, craft supplies and your imagination.
- Become a Reserve Warden: Join a guided walk to discover the wildlife living at the Wetland Centre and practise your species identification skills.
- Wildlife Keeper for the Day: Step into the shoes of a keeper and discover how we care for our ducks, pelicans and other wetland wildlife.
- Become a Wildlife Vet: Carry out a health check on a goose, from weighing and measuring to checking its feet and leg ring.
- Make Otter Enrichment: Get creative and make enrichment for our otters and then watch a keeper gift it to them.
- Bring Nature to Life: Get creative with stories, props and wildlife facts in this hands-on workshop with our engagement team.
- Design Our Next Poster: Join our marketing team and become a designer for the day! Create your own poster to inspire people to visit the wetlands, with the chance to see your design displayed around the Wetland Centre or shared online.
