Discover the meditative art of woodburning in this hands-on introductory workshop. Using the beautiful landscapes of the London Wetlands as inspiration, you will learn to scorch intricate designs onto natural wood blanks, focusing on the delicate form of the dragonfly.
Workshop Overview
- Skill Level: Beginners welcome. No prior experience needed.
- Medium: Pyrography on solid wood blanks.
- Special Techniques: Wire-nib shading, line work, and adding mixed-media shimmer.
What You Will Learn
- Woodburning Basics: Master the safety, temperature control, and essential pen tips.
- Line & Texture: Recreate the lace-like patterns of dragonfly wings and marsh reeds.
- Shading Techniques: Graduating heat to give your nature scene depth and realism.
- Finishing Touches: Blend vibrant colours with a touch of metallic sparkle to make your art pop.

All Wednesday Workshops are included with centre admission and take place in the Thames Water H2O building. Spaces are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend arriving early.
