Goldeneye, Bittern, Water Pipit, Peregrine and migrant Meadow Pipit spotted this morning
1 Peregrine - perched on hospital ledge across the river
3 Shelduck - main lake, scrape
1 Bittern - reservoir lagoon
1 Goldeneye - reservoir lagoon
2 Pintail - main lake
4 Snipe - scrape, marsh
3 Meadow Pipit - flew SE
1 Water Pipit - marsh
8 Redwing - entrance lake
December bird highlights: Jack Snipe, Bittern, Goldeneye, Yellow-legged Gull, Pintail, Water Rail, Caspian Gull, Stonechat, Skylark, Water Pipit, Lesser Redpoll, Chiffchaff.
Amphibians: Smooth Newt found on 20th December (not usually seen until the spring).
Unseasonally early flowering plants: Marsh Marigold, Cowslip, Ragwort, Daisy.
