The most recent Sand Martin ringing found that 95 nest chambers were occupied in the nesting bank.

Breeding bird survey 30/5 (singing birds) - Cetti's Warbler (15), Reed Warbler (60), Sedge Warbler (4), Chiffchaff (6), Blackcap (8), Reed Bunting (5), Song Thrush (4), Blackbird (8), Dunnock (10).

Butterflies and other insects (end May) - White-tailed Bumblebee, Honey Bee, Buff-tailed Bumblebee, Ashy Mining Bee, Grey-patched Mining Bee, Red-tailed Bumblebee, Common Carder Bee, Large Skipper, Peacock, Red Admiral, Brimstone, Small White, Green-veined White, Large White, Orange-tip, Comma, Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, Common Blue, Painted Lady, Small Heath, Bee-fly, Large Red Damselfly, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Azure Damselfly, Red-eyed Damselfly, Hairy Dragonfly, Downy Emerald, Black-tailed Skimmer, Four-spotted Chaser, Norfolk Hawker, Emperor.
