Wildlife Sightings for 20th July 2025
Black-tailed Godwits, Green Sandpiper and Oystercatchers on the reserve today.

8 Black-tailed Godwit - main lake
2 Oystercatcher + 1 fledged juv. - main lake
1 Green Sandpiper - wader scrape
7 Common Tern + 4 juvs.- main lake, reservoir lagoon
4 Little Egret - main lake, wader scrape
1 Whitethroat - sheltered lagoon
The most recent Sand Martin ringing found that 95 nest chambers were occupied in the nesting bank.
Butterflies and dragonflies (mid-July) - Large Skipper, Essex Skipper, Peacock, Red Admiral, Brimstone, Small White, Green-veined White, Large White, Marbled White, Comma, Speckled Wood, Holly Blue, Common Blue, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Small red-eyed Damselfly, Willow Emerald Damselfly, Banded Demoiselle, Common Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer, Ruddy Darter, Four-spotted Chaser, Broad-bodied Chaser, Norfolk Hawker, Emperor, Lesser Emperor, Southern Hawker, Southern Migrant Hawker, Brown Hawker.
