Wildlife Sightings for 23rd August 2025
Two Hobbies and a Marsh Harrier over the reserve.
1 Bittern - main lake
3 Green Sandpiper - wader scrape
1 Little Grebe - reservoir lagoon
1 Marsh Harrier - over the main lake
2 Hobby - hunting over the main lake and marsh
10+ Chiffchaff - west and south routes
20+ Reed Warbler - west and south routes
1 Blackcap - south route bird feeders
Gadwall, Teal and Pochard numbers all beginning to increase on site.
Butterflies and dragonflies (mid-August) - Red Admiral, Brimstone, Small White, Green-veined White, Large White, Comma, Speckled Wood, Common Blue, Brown Argus, Small Heath, Meadow Brown, Blue-tailed Damselfly, Common Blue Damselfly, Small red-eyed Damselfly, Willow Emerald Damselfly, Common Darter, Ruddy Darter, Black-tailed Skimmer, Brown Hawker.
