Wildlife sightings for 7th May 2021

Good numbers of Sedge Warbler singing across the reserve, as well as Linnet, Yellow Wagtail and Swifts recorded

1 Linnet - sheltered lagoon (by Peacock Tower)

17 Swift - over main lake, sheltered lagoon

2 Whitethroat - entrance lake, sheltered lagoon

1 Yellow Wagtail - marsh

6 Chiffchaff - wildside, south route, sheltered lagoon

15+ Sedge Warbler

40+ Reed Warbler

4 Swallow - over south route

12+ Blackcap

1 Common Sandpiper - main lake

2 Oystercatcher - main lake

4 Redshank - scrape, marsh


Reptiles: (1st May survey) 1 Common Lizard, 1 Grass Snake juvenile, 78 Slow Worm.


Flowering plants: Cowslip, Cow Parsley, Primrose, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, Marsh Marigold, Lesser Celandine, Forget-me-not, Cuckoo-flower, Wood Anemone, Dove's-foot Crane's-bill, Ragged Robin, Dandelion, Daisy, Bluebell.
