Chilean flamingos off show

Our Chilean flamingo flock is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to avian influenza (bird flu). We will let you know as soon as they are safe to be outdoors. Thank you for your understanding.

The soap opera that is Wader Lake continues!

The oystercatcher pair that nested on Tern Island approximately three weeks ago still have two well grown chicks on East Island.

Three of the four avocet pairs have successfully hatched chicks, the second time round. Brood one and two hatched around 16/17June and by 19 June the third brood had hatched.

All three broods have taken up territory and we have (at present) seven chicks in total:

Brood one has three chicks and has the main fingers as territory.

Brood two has two chicks and has claimed the left hand edge of the fingers.

Brood three also has two chicks and has claimed the right hand edge of the fingers.
