Chilean flamingos

Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!

Weather - Overcast, light wind, tide level low


Wader Lake:

Shelduck 7, Teal 29 (male 22 / female 7), Grey Heron 3 (meadow), Moorhen 4, Redshank 24, Black headed Gull 23, Herring Gull 6.


Saline Lagoon:

Teal 28 (20 male / 8 female), Grey Heron 2, Shelduck 2, Redshank 2.


Hawthorn wood lookout:

Chaffinch 5, Bullfinch 5, Robin, 1, Great tit 4, Blackbird 3, Coal tit 7, Blue tit 2, Sparrowhawk 1, Nuthatch 1.


Other birds noted around site:

Siskin 10, Wren 1, Blackbird 3, Redwing, Robin 2 (Wader Lake footpath)

Tufted Duck 1 (River wear), Mute swan 1 (Flying over), Goosander 3 females (flying over), Cormorant 1 (flying over)

Other wildlife on site:

Roe Deer 1 (East down)
