Chilean flamingos

Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!

Wader Lake (AM, high):

Kestrel (pair on camera tower) 2

Gadwall 1

Ruff 1

Grey heron 1

Black-tailed godwit 4

Curlew 51

Shelduck 3

Common snipe 1

 

Saline Lagoon:

Teal 9

Lesser black-backed gull 1

Hawthorn Wood:

Bullfinch 5

Great-spotted woodpecker 1

 

Plus:

A sparrowhawk on East Down

A juvenile grey heron at Window on the Wear

A mute swan on the River Wear

Three jay in Spring Gill Wood and one in North Wood

A coal tit on the centre bird feeders

A chiffchaff on Wader Lake footpath

A treecreeper near the stream channel

 

Invertebrates:

Common darter and migrant hawker dragonflies

Speckled wood and red admiral butterflies

 

Flora:

Water mint and hemp agrimony
