Chilean flamingos

Our flock of Chilean flamingos is currently being housed indoors. This is a temporary measure as a precaution to local avian influenza (bird flu).
We don't know how long this will last but we'll let you know as soon as they are safe to be back outdoors!

Weather: overcast / sunny spells, wind level low, river wear tide level low

Work being carried out by Reserve manager on the meadow near wader lake


River wear: Cormorant 1, Curlew 2, Grey heron 2, Shelduck 2

Top meadow: Roe deer 3,

Gully: Kingfisher 1

Saline Lagoon: Curlew (meadow) 7, Shelduck 2, Teal 27, Moorhen 2

Hawthorn wood lookout: Goldcrest 1, Bullfinch 3, Robin 2, Coal tit 7, Great tit 4, Chaffinch 1, blue tit 2, Dunnock 2


Other birds noted around site:

Kestrel 1 (grounds by domestics), Sparrowhawk 1 (middle wood), Grey partridge 15 (saline lagoon meadow), Siskin (middle wood)

Bullfinch 2, Wren 1, Blackbird 2, Redwing 10 (dragonfly ponds)


Other wildlife / species around site:

Roe deer 3 (top meadow)


Flora / Fungi:

Candle snuff 1 (hidden meadow), shaggy scalycap 1 (hawthorn wood)
