Adoption terms and conditions

Here are the terms and conditions of our adopt an animal product:

  1. WWT adoption is valid for 12 months from the start date which is normally the date of purchase unless otherwise agreed at the time of joining (e.g. when a gift adoption is purchased). Entitlement to become an adopter is entirely at the discretion of WWT.
  2. By signing up for a WWT adoption you are agreeing to a 12 month adoption, whether this is paid annually or monthly, and a refund will not be given if an adoption is cancelled before the end of the 12 month period.
  3. When paying by Direct Debit, you are liable to the full minimum subscription and must return any welcome pack and contents if the first year subscription is not paid in full.
  4. WWT adoption is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to other people or WWT products.
  5. A WWT adoption is for one named person. We are unable to personalise the adoption welcome pack and its contents for more than one person.
  6. A WWT adoption welcome pack includes an adopter’s complimentary ticket for one person to visit a WWT site for one day. It is valid as per the expiry date on the ticket. Anyone else who attends with the ticket holder will need to purchase a day ticket or be a WWT member.
  7. A WWT adopter’s complimentary ticket has no monetary value and we are unable to off an alternative.
  8. The WWT adoption welcome pack can take up to 2 weeks to arrive from the date of purchase. However, this could be longer during busy periods, such as Summer Holidays and Christmas. We are sorry that we are unable to guarantee delivery before a special event (e.g. birthday) and no refunds will be given.
  9. We are unable to send adoption welcome packs outside of the UK.
  10. A WWT adoption is for the species as a whole and not a specific animal.
  11. A WWT adoption does not permit the adopter to any ownership rights on the adopted species.
  12. In exceptional circumstances we may need to close our sites, to protect the wildlife at our wetland centres, our visitors, staff and volunteers. This may be at short notice. Before visiting you can view updates on our centres here.
