WWT is a charity that relies on the generous support of volunteers. Offer just a few hours of your time and help us to save wetlands for wildlife and people.

We have nearly 1000 volunteers working in a variety of WWT settings, including the nine visitor centres; the Steart site in Somerset; and our headquarters at Slimbridge. At the time of our last volunteer survey, in May 2013, we calculated that our volunteers contributed around 198,000 hours per year. To volunteer with us, you don’t need any expert knowledge, just a keen interest in people and wildlife, a flexible approach and a ‘can-do’ attitude.

In many cases, volunteers are the public face of WWT, welcoming our visitors, ensuring their time with us is enjoyable, and helping them to understand the work we do to save wetlands for wildlife and people. Volunteers are also engaged in backroom roles that are just as important – compiling image libraries, helping with research and conservation, and working in media and education – not to mention the very hardy teams who help to maintain our grounds and reserves in all weathers.
