Frequently asked questions
General questions

As a charity, we ask for a minimum donation on membership so you can choose to give a little more. Every penny helps to restore and protect wetlands and their wildlife for generations to come.

To be eligible for Gift Aid, you need to be the person purchasing the membership and a UK tax payer. If you are joining as a family, both adult members must live at the same address if you choose to Gift Aid your membership. We are unable to claim Gift Aid on gift memberships. Our current turnaround time is 4-6 weeks. Don’t worry, you can still visit straightaway. Simply turn up at our site on the day and until you receive your membership card, please bring along your welcome confirmation email.

1. By monthly or annual Direct Debit - paying by monthly Direct Debit costs the same as paying in one go, but the cost is split over 12 months. It reduces our admin costs, meaning your support will go that bit further.
2. By credit/debit card -
We will claim your Direct Debit either on or around 1st or 15th of each month. This means that sometimes your first payment may include more than one month’s payment and be on a different day to your regular payment. You will receive a Direct Debit confirmation letter in the post from us after you’ve joined which will confirm the amount and date of each instalment.

Yes, we’d love to see you at our sites. Whilst you wait for your membership card to arrive, simply turn up at our site on the day and please bring along your welcome confirmation email. Please contact us if you have any questions about your new membership.

Sorry, we can only refund your admission ticket from the price of your membership if you join at a centre on the day of your visit.
Gifting a membership

We try to send all gift memberships within 4 weeks, but please allow a little longer at busy times. Don’t worry, you will receive a gift certificate with your confirmation email that you can print and send in the meantime. When setting the start date, please note that it may take up to 4 weeks for the pack to arrive, but your gift recipient will still be able to visit in the meantime.

By gifting a membership, you are doing your bit to protect wetland habitats across the world – thank you. Your gift will include a welcome pack, including discount vouchers for friends and family. Plus, they’ll receive our Waterlife magazine two times per year.

Yes, there is an option to include a gift message at the checkout, and you will receive a gift certificate you can print with your confirmation email.

We aim to send your new Life membership cards out within 4 weeks, but please bear with us if it takes a little longer at busy times.
