Increased reserve access
Water levels have dropped well enough to now re-open all of the footpaths. Wellies are needed to get to Reedbed, Lyle and Friends hides. There is mud on the footpath to Nelson-lyle hide so stout boots would be recommended
The Welney Wash Road section of the A1101 is now open; diversions are not needed to be followed at present.
Lady Fen (the wetlands viewed from the visitor centre) is looking spectacular at the moment, with hundreds of swans at close range, lapwing, redshank, ruff, black-tailed godwit and shelduck in amongst them.
There are a few spaces left on the hare walk Monday and Thursday, so please ring the centre to make sure you don’t miss out on this.
