Recent sightings - 1st June

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, at low tide.

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard 40, Tufted duck 3, Black-headed gull +80, Shelduck 2, Coot 2, Gadwall 1, Greylag 7  (one of them a gosling).

Wadermarsh - visible from Wadermarsh lookout and Brent Hide

Shelduck 2, Gadwall 8, Black-headed gull 15, Common tern 2, Lesser black-backed gull 1.

Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Tufted duck 3, Black-headed gull +300, Mute swan 2 adults + 7 cygnets (yes, they hatched last week, and are now wandering around, pleasantly!!). Ten lovely Shelduck ducklings are also growing fast, cared by their parents.

Saline Lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull +50.

Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory

Black-headed gull 20, Shelduck 4, Lesser black-backed gull 2.

Woodland

Bullfinch 2.
