British Steel Hide

A mixture of gulls have been seen on the saline lagoons recently, such as Black Headed gull, Lesser Black-backed gull, Great Black-backed gull and Herring gull. Curlew, Redshank, Little Egret and Cormorant have also been spotted out there.

Visible on the lagoon from the Observatory and Boardwalk hide have been large numbers of waders, 250 Knot and 870 Black-tailed Godwit. Also spotted have been a range of ducks such as 4 Shelduck, 37 Teal, Pintail, Shoveler and Tufted Duck.

 

Millennium Wetlands

On Monday a Hobby was seen catching and eating dragonflies on the wing for about an hour over deep water lake, visible from both of the hides. Other birds of prey spotted are Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Goshawk. Keep your eyes peeled for waders on deep water lake, Snipe and Black-tailed Godwit have been seen from both the Heron's wing hide and Sir Peter Scott hide. Also on the Millennium Wetlands there have been sightings of Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker, Pied Wagtail, Jay and Raven.
