Bethany Harries

Nature-based learning development manager (KTP associate)

About me

I am a Health and Environmental Psychologist with a special interest in how connecting with nature supports wellbeing and encourages pro-environmental behaviour. Before joining WWT, I completed a PhD in psychology at the University of Surrey, where my research explored nature-based mindfulness to connect with nature and support wellbeing. I now work as a Nature-Based Learning Development Manager on the Generation Wild project, helping to create opportunities for children and families to experience and engage with nature. I’m interested in using psychological insights to support conservation through education and connection and about demonstrating how time in nature can nurture wellbeing and a lifelong commitment to protecting our environment.

My role

In my new role as Nature-based Learning Development Manager (KTP Associate) with Cardiff University and WWT I will be working on the award-winning Generation Wild project. Generation Wild connects children and families from disadvantaged communities with nature through storytelling and adventure with the aim of fostering nature connection, care for the environment, and wellbeing. In this role, I’ll be helping to evaluate and develop the programme, ensuring it continues to make a meaningful impact and remains sustainable for the future.
