Visitor terms and conditions of entry
We hope you have a great day exploring the wonders of wetlands with us. To ensure the safety of our visitors, our staff and the wildlife that call our sites home, we ask that all our visitors agree to the following terms and conditions:
- Please come and go during the day of your visit, we just ask that you keep your entry receipt and show it to our admission teams when re-entering the site.
- We can accept visitors up to one hour prior to the advertised closing time.
- We have limited car parking, which all visitors are welcome to use during their visit. The security and safety of vehicles are the responsibility of their owners.
- Our wetland sites are home to an array of wetland birds and mammals who can be a little shy and easily distressed by dogs, other animals and too noisy humans. We welcome trained assistance dogs on leads but are unable to allow other dogs or animals at our sites. We also politely request that dogs are left at home and not unattended in cars. Please note that there may be some areas or exhibits that trained assistance dogs cannot access due to animal welfare and/or biosecurity requirements. Please ask on arrival for details.
- To avoid upset and distress to our wetland residents, we also ask that the following items stay at home:
- drones
- scooters, bicycles, tricycles, roller skates/blades/wheelies and skateboards
- barbecues
- ‘throwing toys’ such as ball games, frisbees, nerf guns etc.
- wheeled toys e.g. dolls prams
- pond dipping equipment
- balloons, kites and sky lanterns
- As much as we love a spare pair of welly boots, please always keep your belongings with you
- We love for you to capture those special moments at our sites through photos and video footage, and we encourage you to share the best ones with us on our social media accounts! If you’d like to carry out filming or photography at our sites for commercial use, please gain approval from the relevant site in advance. If you are capturing photos or video of other visitors, staff or volunteers please bear in mind you will need to ask their permission first.
- We expect all our staff, volunteers and visitors to behave in a responsible and respectful way towards other people and the wildlife at our sites. If unacceptable behaviour is observed or reported, our staff have the right to ask any visitor to correct their behaviour or to leave the site and may call the police if it is felt necessary. Unacceptable behaviour includes:
- vandalism or stealing WWT property
- harming, disturbing or distressing any birds or wildlife
- smoking in non-smoking areas
- displaying behaviour or using language towards other visitors, staff or volunteers that is:
- intimidating
- discriminatory
- offensive
- aggressive
- putting people’s safety or health at risk
- We want everyone to enjoy their wetland adventure. Please keep an eye on those in your group and to help avoid mishaps we ask that you keep to pathways and check for safety notices, and follow the advice of our friendly teams, particularly around open water and in play areas.
- Please leave our plants for others to enjoy and keep our sites looking their best by using the bins provided for your litter.
- Some of sites sell grain so you can feed the birds. They are quite fussy so please don't bring your own or try to feed the birds any other food during your visit.
- If you are a member of WWT, you will be given membership cards that are unique to you and for your personal use only. We ask that you bring them with you when you visit and to protect your membership, our staff may ask for additional ID if we’re concerned someone else may be using your cards.
- Carers accompanying visitors, and members, are welcome free of charge at our sites.
- We aim to communicate in advance about any changes to our sites through our website, social media accounts and via email. In rare circumstances we may have to close, remove or alter an exhibit/attraction/hide or close a site altogether at short notice.
- These terms and conditions of entry may be updated at any time, without prior notice, and any decisions on these matters sits with WWT.
Thank you for playing your part in helping us to look after our visitors, staff, volunteers and wildlife at our sites. We hope you enjoy your wetland adventure with us!
