Get creative with this hands‑on activity to create enrichment crafts that support the playful animals at Washington Wetland Centre. Decorate Dragonfly style pebbles for the otters, make scented festival bunting and craft nature‑themed garlands to blend creativity, conservation and close‑up animal connection, making it a perfect fit for the Dragonfly Festival.

Crafting for Creatures

A colourful, creative celebration of enrichment crafts to keep our wetland residence out of mischief.

Time: 1pm - 2pm
Location: Wetwood Cabin

Families can join our crafting for creatures sessions for a series of hands-on nature activities which are designed to enrich the lives of our animals and keep them out of mischief during the Dragonfly Festival celebration. This session will include one of the following craft activities:

Festival Pebbles
Create vibrant festival‑themed pebbles for our otters Musa and Buster, pebbles are their favourite enrichment activity and a fun way to keep them busy and curious.

Scented Bunting
Craft festival scent bunting infused with our otters Buster and Musa’s favourite scents, like mint and cinnamon, to spark their curiosity.

Nature Garlands
Build nature‑themed festival garlands for our geese, supporting their daily dietary enrichment.


Accessibility: Activities take place indoors with wheelchair-accessible tables, seated options, sensory-friendly materials & staff support available. Tools can be adapted for different needs. See more information about our centres accessibility here.
