From spring to autumn visit our pond dipping stations and use the nets, trays and identification charts provided to get a closer look at some of our underwater inhabitants. No need to bring your own equipment, this ensures we are maintaining healthy wetlands and not spreading wildlife diseases. Our south pond-dipping station is level access from the path – perfect for wheelchairs and pushchairs, both pond dipping stations have a seating available too.

Collect an explorer backpack from the visitor centre complete with birdwatching and bug hunting kit. Then set out exploring the reserve – follow trails across out footbridge from the visitor centre to the main hide and then the discovery trail from the main hide to Lyle hide to learn more about our seasonal wildlife. If you still have energy to burn head out to the furthest reaches of the reserve for a totally immersive wetland experience.

Whatever the weather you can explore the pond room with its microscope tables, art & craft activities and views of the bird feeding station.
