Todays sightings
Each day the flight in of the swans between sunset and dusk is an unmissable spectacle. Tonight from Reedbed hide hundreds of swans flew back from the arable land in front of an orange and red sky. From this walk way you can also look North along the washes to see more swans flying in from Lyle to Friends hides. This was all happening to the sound of hundreds of black-tailed godwits and lapwing and a few curlew calling.
Just before the swans started flying back to the reserve the cormorants were gathering to roost on the wires which pass over the Ouse Washes. This was whilst barn owls were silently hunting along the footpaths; providing excellent views.
