Water levels have peaked. Main hide, Nelson-Lyle and Lyle hides open to all. Friends hide open to walkers with wellies. Reedbed hide closed. Lady Fen trail fully open for walkers. All roads open, some diversions from the West, but direct access from Welney village, Littleport and Ten Mile Bank.

Wader watch

A beautiful day at WWT Welney the Wader watch walk has just started today they are off in search for waders on the reserve.  Unfortunately there are works being carried out at Friends hide today clearing out the wader scrape sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.  This morning there are:

Lapwing
Ruff
Snipe
Shoveler
Teal
Wigeon
Shelduck
Mallard
Whooper swan (resident)
Mute swan
Canada goose
Greylag goose
Pied wagtail
Yellow wagtail
Grey wagtail
