Common questions

Can I donate to a particular WWT wetland centre?

Yes, our online donation form allows you to specify which centre you would like to support. You can also advise us how we should use your donation by writing the name of your favourite centre on the back of your cheque, or on our donation form.

Can you send me donation forms to distribute?

Yes, we can supply donation forms. For further information about donating and to request donation forms, please contact us.

Can I donate to support WWT’s international work or to a particular project?

Yes. Please contact us and we’ll tell you about our current activities and how your gift in memory can support them.

Can I donate via JustGiving?

Yes, just visit www.justgiving.com/wwt/remember to create your tribute page.

Can I donate via a funeral director?

Yes, many funeral directors will offer this service. Please see our information on donations at a funeral.

Can I place a plaque or a bench at one of your centres?

WWT looks after some of Britain’s most spectacular wetlands, and people come to our centres to experience their natural beauty. The best way to create a tribute for your loved one is through an inscribed leaf on our Tree of Life at our Slimbridge and London centres or the Commemoration Books at multiple WWT centres.

I’d like to raise funds by doing a sponsored challenge. Can you help?

Certainly. We can suggest ideas and offer support. You might like to start by looking at our fundraising page.

Can I scatter ashes at one of your wetland centres or reserves?

Our centres do not allow or approve the scattering of ashes due to a number of reasons both legal, logistical and environmental. Our priority is to protect wetlands and their wildlife, but we also feel it's important to ensure that supporters are able to create memorials to loved-ones which are accessible. Due to the nature of our work and our spaces, changes which impact access to areas where ashes have been scattered from new buildings or developments are not unusual. Please visit our gifts in memories page for suggestions on how to remember a loved one.

What’s the difference between a gift in memory and a gift in a will?

Gifts in memory commemorate a friend or loved one who has died, or a special occasion you wish to mark. Gifts in wills are charitable bequests made in a will. To find out more about leaving a gift in your will, please see our information on how to leave a gift in your will. If your loved one has kindly made a gift in their will to WWT, please contact us.
