Recent sightings - 7th January

The following sightings were recorded today by Toni Castello, warden, near high tide and under a sunny, bright and quiet day.

Main lake – visible from Sensory garden and Visitor centre

Mallard +250, Tufted duck 24, Coot 2, Gadwall 35 (a notable increase from previous days), Shelduck 4, Black-headed gull 6, Cormorant 3, Little egret 6, Grey heron 1.

Wadermarsh - visible from Brent Hide

Redshank 1.

Freshwater lagoon – visible from Brent Hide and Crannog

Coot 1, Mallard 6, Mute swan 1.

Saline lagoon - visible from Limekiln observatory

Little grebe 1, Little egret 1, Cormorant 1.

Estuary – visible from Brent hide and Limekiln observatory

Light-bellied brent geese +50, Shelduck +300, Oystercatcher +300, Knot +100, Turnstone 10, Curlew 15, Redshank 2.
